RTBN 25 Days of Christmas: Day Twenty-Three
Day Twenty-Three: Die Hard
Let's get this out of the way right at the top: Die Hard is a Christmas movie. It takes place at Christmas time, it prominently features Christmas music, and its about a man willing to do anything (including killing a LOT of Germans) to be with his family at Christmas. This is the Christmas titan that has spawned a franchise. This is the movie that gave us "Yipee-Ki-Yay, Mother Fucker." This is Die Hard.
I'm a movie guy, and this is a well known fact. Every Christmas Eve, my family watches several movies together (in fact, the rest of this feature will be devoted to them). Usually in the morning, my Mom and I sit down to watch Die Hard, one of her all-time favorites, and a great way to start the day (and, really, any day). The rest of the family joins in on the others, but Die Hard is usually just me and my mom. Its a personal Christmas tradition, and its a great one. To some, the film doesn't scream Christmas. Those people are crazy. So as the big day nears, sit down with your nearest and dearest, and watch John McClane kick Hans Gruber's ass. You won't regret it.
Tomorrow on RTBN 25 Days of Christmas:
Jordan looks at another of his Christmas Eve traditions, A Muppet Christmas Carol. After all, there's only one more sleep 'til Christmas.
